Karleigh's Page

My name is Karleigh and I have been showing dogs since I was 10 years of age.

Throughout my Junior Handling career I have handled over 70 different breeds of dogs.  I qualified for the Pedigree Queensland State Junior Handler Finals each year I was eligible.  In 2004 I was Zone 3 Junior Handler Pedigree winner.

I still have great success in the All-Breeds ring winning many Best Exhibit and Reserve Exhibit in Shows with different breeds.  I now only show selective dogs to which I think are a good breed example.

In 2009 I was asked to fly over to New  Zealand to show for Parkavon Kennels.  Out of a 15day stay, 12days were commited to grooming and showing.  I handled and groomed; Lhasa Apso's, Giant Schnauzer's, Afghan Hound's, Cocker Spaniel's, American Cocker Spaniel's, GSP's and English Springer Spaniel's.

I also own/groom/handle my Afghan Hound, Phoenix, who is a multi Best in Show winner and an Australian Champion.  He is only points away from his Grand Championship.

I am also in the judge's training scheme with All Breeds Open Show status.  I have also been a qualified handlers judge since I was 18.

My first degree was completed in 2009; Bachelor of Science Major in Mathematics.  In 2010 I have retained a spot in a Graduate Diploma of Education.  Whilst being an undergraduate, I was employed by my university to educate first year engineering/science students in the field of mathematics.  With this came the responsibility of marking exam papers and assignments.  I now continue to do research work in statistics for my Professors.
